On the Results, Outcomes, Analysis of International Cooperation Activities in 2023, and Plans for 2024

During 2023, the university’s professors and teachers made 139 international trips. Students, master’s degree students, and basic doctoral students made 96 trips.

According to the data presented in Figure 1, 3 teachers are currently studying at the doctoral level in France, Malaysia, and England as scholarship recipients of the “El-Yurt Umidi” Foundation. 5 teachers are pursuing doctoral studies at the Polytechnic University of Valencia in Spain, and 1 teacher is studying at the University of Santiago de Compostela. One teacher is studying at Pusan National University in South Korea within the framework of the Global Korean Scholarship grant program. Another teacher is conducting research at Anadolu University under the Türkiye Scholarships grant program.

During 2023, professional development and internships were organized for 63 teachers at higher educational institutions and research centers in the following countries: the USA (3), the United Kingdom (2), Germany (4), Spain (3), Kazakhstan (6), the Russian Federation (21), Turkey (7), France (9), China (1), and India (7).

Within the framework of conferences and symposiums, trips were made to countries such as Russia, Nepal, Kazakhstan, Portugal, Spain, Tajikistan, Turkey, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates.

The indicators of activities carried out in 2022 and throughout 2023 can be compared in Figure 2.

Target Indicators for 2024:

  1. Based on the target indicators defined in the “Uzbekistan – 2030” Strategy, and in accordance with the plan approved by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation on 26.10.2023, it is envisaged that 136 teachers of Bukhara State University will be sent annually in 2024–2030 for professional development and internships abroad through local and foreign grants, as well as the university’s extra-budgetary funds. Of these, 36 teachers are planned to be sent through local and foreign grants, while 100 teachers will be funded through the university’s extra-budgetary resources.a
  2. In the Concept for the Development of the Higher Education System of the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2030, approved by Presidential Decree No. PF-5847, the target indicators for attracting foreign professors and teachers to the educational process of higher education institutions are set at 5% of the core academic staff for 2023 and 8% for 2025. For 2024, the target indicator for Bukhara State University is set at 70 people (approximately 7.5%), including 10 people to be attracted through various grants, and 60 foreign teachers to be engaged for at least 3 weeks or 90 teaching hours.
  3. Based on the annual indicators, the number of people to be sent as part of university delegations to participate in various events is planned at 80 people, including 30 people funded through local and foreign grants.
  4. In order to support talented students, their participation in international summer schools, cultural events, and competitions will be organized. It is planned to support 50 students and master’s students, including 10 people through local and foreign grants, and 40 people through the university’s extra-budgetary funds.
  5. The volume of attracted grant funds will be increased to 2.5 billion UZS.
